Jisho will even let you search by radical, c’est a dire, by selecting different “parts” of the Kanji you are looking for until the site narrows it down to a few Kanji. But Dictionaries will be your best friend 70% of the time. You can ask friends if they know, maybe tweet, asking.
This is where you will do most your learning. You’re playing a game, and you start getting Kanji you don’t know. you could also try getting Japanese versions of Voltage games or other mobile otome. I recommend playing a game like Amnesia, Brothers’ Conflict or an UTAPRI game. Despite the love of many (including myself) for the series, they use more formal and older Japanese. Please, for the love of god and your own brain, don’t choose something like Hakuouki. I will always always always recommend Tae Kim’s Guide as it’s helped me so much. But hey, no worries! Japanese Grammar is fairly simple, and you can learn it pretty fast. you can learn from textbooks, or guides like this one. Get familiar with basic GrammarĪnother thing you have no choice but to do if you want to understand your games. the Genki books are another popular choice. If you’re up for it, they also offer an online always-updating textbook, Textfugu . They have many articles on words as well as guides to Hiragana and Katakana. Learning Hiragana and Katakana is fairly simple, and there are many online sources like tof ugu to help.
